Dr. Avis Jones-DeWeever
As Principal and Founder of Nouveaux Strategies, Dr. Jones-DeWeever brings decades of experience at the intersection of research, public policy, and strategic communications. Dr. Jones-DeWeever has a proven track record of helping progressive organizations, campaigns, and institutions acquire and leverage lasting political and economic influence.
Her career is marked by pioneering leadership, including serving as the youngest Executive Director of the National Council of Negro Women. She has provided keynote addresses for major global forums such as President Obama’s Inaugural United States Young African Leaders Summit, and has delivered expert trainings for the World Bank and U.S. Embassies worldwide on women’s economic empowerment, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
Dr. Jones-DeWeever is the author of How Exceptional Black Women Lead and has contributed to a range of influential publications focused on economic equity and leadership. Her expertise has been featured on major media outlets including CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, PBS, CTV, CBC, BBC, NPR, Sirius XM Radio, USA Today, The Washington Post and many more.
She serves on the boards of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation and Sisters Lead Sisters Vote and is the Senior Public Policy Advisor to the Black Women’s Roundtable. Dr. Jones-DeWeever previously served on the Boards of Women’s Voices, Women’s Vote and the National Network to End Domestic Violence.
