From Discontent to Determination. Black Women in the Economy and on the 2026 Midterm Elections
Executive Summary
The 10th Annual Black Women’s Roundtable Power of the Sister Vote Poll, a national survey of 1,000 Black women registered voters, finds an electorate under severe economic strain, deep institutional distrust — and more determined to vote than at any point this series has measured. Black women have absorbed the brunt of a federal agenda that hollowed out the federal workforce, dismantled diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, and weakened civil rights enforcement. They have not responded by withdrawing. They have responded by sharpening their demand and leaning into their power. The story of 2026 is not disengagement. It is discontent channeled into righteous determination.
